What inspires you to create and keeps you going? 

Cheesy as it is, having a team around me that supports me and creates the pictures I can’t.

Do you have a set routine? 

Yes (most of the time). I usually go out and get coffee in the morning, write in the day, social media on some evenings, relax at night. Oh and Youtube video Mondays, Patreon video Fridays.

What kind of output do you try to achieve? 

Depends what I’m doing, mostly it’s trying to get the to do list done.

What inspires you WHEN you create? Music? Noise? Silence? 

Usually I like having a TV show, film or Youtube video on in the background.

Who was the first comic book creator that influenced you to pursue this? 

To be honest when I started it was more cartoons. So I’m going to cheat and say (among others) Eric and Julia Lewald for their work on the X-Men cartoon, Eastman and Laird for Ninja Turtles. Oh, saying that Goscinny and Uderzo for Asterix.

When did you realize you could follow this path yourself? 

I come from a family of self employed people. As a matter of fact it was my Dad who said I should go into writing.

What do you find to be a challenge in creating? 

I love writing, but the other aspects (promotion, communicating with others, is a challenge).

What else do you have to learn? 

Keeping calm, asking for feedback and not taking too much on.

What keeps you motivated to get better? 

It’s what I love doing.

Can you turn your brain (creativity) off (and on)? 

With a regular routine I can work pretty well, but yeah there are times when I can fall asleep mid-video.

What advice do you have for aspiring creators?

Work out your budget, don’t try to take too much on, support fellow creators.

Do you ever worry about running out of ideas? 

No, I want to get the ones I have finished.

How do you handle the slow times? Just got out of doing a Christmas Fair and yes, there are definitely times when footfall is quiet and you have to learn to keep yourself occupied.

How do you feel about the industry? 

It’s a challenge- On the one hand, it’s great because there are more platforms and ways for people to showcase their work, while crowdfunding has offered an incredible new way for people to support things they believe in and supporter creators. Conversely, this also means there is increased competition, so you have to work hard to get those opportunities.
